VIRIDIANA RODRIGUEZ, MSW
Viri was born and raised in a small town in Michoacán, Mexico. Her family migrated to the United States when she was just 7 years old. The transition of moving to a new country and learning a new language was challenging, yet it highlighted the importance of having a reliable support system. As she matured, she quickly discovered a strong passion for making a positive impact on others’ lives. Viri's educational journey commenced when she chose to attend California State University, Bakersfield, where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Child, Adolescent, and Family Studies with a minor in Sociology. During those four years, she gained significant experience working with children directly, and decided she wanted to continue her education and pursue a Masters degree in social work immediately after. In 2021, Viri began a full-time program attending in-person classes at CSUB, completing her internship hours weekly, and working a part-time job in fast food to pay for school expenses. She obtained her MSW in the spring of 2023. During her graduate program, Viri gained valuable experience and learned the importance of human relationships, interpersonal communication, and advocacy. She looks forward to using that to support the youth and families in the foster care community here with Bakersfield Angels! |
