Shelby recently graduated from University of California, Santa Barbara with a degree in
sociology and a minor in feminist studies. She moved back home to Bakersfield due to Covid-19
closing her campus down, but she was able to turn that negative into a huge positive! Shelby
began as a Case Management Intern here at Bakersfield Angels, but quickly grew a huge heart for our programs and mission and now we get to (officially) bring her on as part of our team!
Shelby spent a lot of time working with nonprofits in Santa Barbara and carried that passion back home to Bakersfield. She has a love for helping others in her community which leads her towards a future in social work, and she will begin her MSW sometime next school year. She says, “I have been inspired in ways I never thought possible. I feel great passion for each of the youth, their families, and the volunteers who come through this organization because I have seen the deep and personal impact that these programs are creating.” Shelby is so thankful for the opportunity to be a part of this team and can’t wait to see what the
