Janie Slegers
In 2014, after graduating from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and getting married, Janie moved to Chicago with her husband Trevor, where they spent 6 years enjoying city life as young professionals. In 2017, Trevor and Janie decided to step into the world of temporary foster care through an organization called Safe Families for Children. They were able to host 5 children in their first year, and absolutely fell in love with the kids and the heart behind foster care.
In 2019, Janie and her family moved back to California to work on the family dairy. Janie has been a part of Bakersfield Angels from the very early stages and her family is completely invested in the incredible work Bakersfield Angels is doing. Currently, Janie sits on the board as the Director of Community Engagement. She uses her ‘Bakersfield native’ connections to help spread the heart of Bakersfield Angels to everyone in the community. She’s excited to see this organization continue to grow and is continuously overwhelmed at the ways God has moved in the Foster Care Community. In her spare time you’ll find Janie at her small farm in Buttonwillow where she lives with her husband Trevor, three daughters Jane, Rosie and Kit and their ever-growing group of animals. She loves gathering friends, new and old, and serving great food and drinks. You can also find her traveling to new restaurants in search of the best dishes or trying out the latest wellness trend. |
